Autism

A new study(http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1876285910002500) begs us to ask this question because these new statistics are not only startling, they are completely unacceptable!

“Was this always the case?” you might ask.  The answer is an emphatic no!   Better diagnosis can certainly account for some of the increase, and we know genetics plays a role.  But, having been a pediatric registered nurse for the past 34 years, the way I see it is:  the increase in the production and use of chemicals (87, 000 in our air, water and food) , poor nutrition (Americans spend 90% of their food budget on processed foods) and an outlandish number of vaccines  (36-45 now given before the age of  five) have combined to create a perfect storm  allowing 54% of our children to develop one form or another of chronic illness including developmental and behavioral disorders.   [click to continue…]

January 8, 2011

Recently I was reading a piece on autism, and the fact that an advertisement for the drug Concerta was placed directly below the article, says a lot about this question.   See, if we the public are conjured into believing (through slick ads) that the only tool available to us when we are ill is a [...]

Emerging Science and Common Sense Provide Better Answers for Autism

September 26, 2010

No one has all the answers as to why so many children are developing autism. Genetic predisposition plus environmental factors?
